My Dissertation - Fifth Week of Study

Dates: 2.3.2007 to 8.3.2007

Not much done at all in the last week.  I had a weekend off the studying as I went with my wife to Edinburgh for the weekend.  This is always the problem when you study part time, i.e. you work at the same time.  You still do the normal things, go away for the weekend, go on holiday, have too much to do around the house etc, you have to plan for this and take it into account.

The two main thrusts for next week will be the literature search and completing the plan up to, and including, TMA02.  A TMA is a type of baseline; you have to submit a summary of what you have done so far.  The first TMA is due on the 27th of March; part of the first TMA is to complete a plan up to TMA02.  You need to define the main tasks, what you intend to do, where you have gone wrong and what you need to do to rectify the situation.

The Open University encourages you to be a ‘Reflective Practitioner’; you have to look back on what you have done and think of ways to improve.

This is a good thing as you can always improve, always do things better.  No one can say they are perfect, no one can say they can’t do better, with effort you can.
